These photographs document views of the countryside in rural Eaton County, Michigan. Produced during my residency at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, these images are printed with the photographic gum bichromate process.
Each image is exposed again and again, layering colors atop one another to slowly produce a characteristic and luminous image reminiscent of watercolor painting. The slow and repetitive process mirrors my experience as a rural parcel carrier, where I witnessed these scenes again and again on my weekly mail route.
